Crossed stitches are created when you skip spaces, crochet a stitch and then crochet a stitch into the skipped stitches; you have crossed one stitch over another by working backwards into the skipped area. Crossed stitches are the foundation of creating crochet cables, and they can also be used as decorative textured stitches in their own right. This guide shows you how to crochet some of the most common crossed stitches.
The Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival and Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival for 2017 has come to a close! It was at the David L. Lawrence Convention Center on March 24-26, 2017. There was much to see for knitters and crocheters. There was a Red Heart & Marly Bird Learning Corner booth where we discussed Marly’s New Learning Corner on redheart.com, showed off some of her latest designs and videos on planned pooling. Marly Bird taught several crochet and knit classes and several of the students came to the booth raving about their experience!
I love Marly Bird’s friendly, easy-to-follow style of doing how-to videos. You can find all her Red Heart pattern videos on our Marly’s Learning Corner page, which is always available via the “How-To” drop down in our top navigation bar.
Marly Bird is teaching 6 classes at the upcoming Stitches United, including both classes for knitting and for crochet! Stitches United is a new Stitches show, bringing together knitters and crocheters who come to most Stitches shows with quilters, sewers, embroiderers, and so on in a gathering of fiber artist of all types. Stitches United will happen April 27-30, 2017 in Hartford, CT at the Connecticut Convention Center & Marriott Hartford Downtown. Read on to hear about the classes, market, and other fun events.
