Tapestry crochet is a niche of crochet that intimidates a lot of people because it involves a lot of different yarn color changes (resulting in many ends to weave in). However, once you get the hang of the color changes, you realize that this type of crochet, which is based entirely on basic single crochet stitches, is actually really simple. You work with several different colors across each row to create beautiful graphic designs, producing work that seems to be complex, but in the end it’s not that hard at all.
When designer Lisa Gentry at Hook & Needle Designs told me she was working on designs for pumpkins using all Red Heart yarns, my curiosity was aroused. She usually designs beautiful crocheted and knitted garments. So I asked her to send me photos of what she was doing with pumpkins (of all things). She sent me her eBook, which is a creative collection of 13 crocheted Pumpkin Toppers. It includes patterns and ideas for displaying your crochet talents on top of pumpkins all around your house, both inside and out.
If you love the sparkle of metallic, you’ll love Gleam! Gleam is a perfect combination of style and comfort, great for fashion and accessories that are sure to get noticed.
I know I have said it before, but I will say it again…I love making things for other people. Babies are my absolute favorite subjects to make hand-made gifts for. They tend to appreciate my hard work, they do not judge me if I make a small mistake and the unconditional love when they look into my eyes is priceless. It may be a little too early for them to say thank you, but I know in their own sweet way they love it! I guess I could take the easy way out and make the same pattern over and over, but I like a challenge so I attempt something new with each gift. To assist you in making a variety of gifts for your special bundles of joy, I have put together a dozen of my favorite baby creations from Red Heart.

Strata is a jersey knit tube featuring fine fibers knitted into a tube around a soft core. Similar to a traditional T-shirt yarn but the tube structure means the yarn won’t fray along the edges, giving it great stitch definition. Extremely soft with just a little stretch and easy to use colors, it’s perfect for accessories, apparel and home décor.
