Have you ever found a project that you just haaaaad to make then once you got started you realized how much work had to go into and soon the project became a UFO (unfinished object)? Well, that is precisely what happened here. Back in November, I was flipping through the January 2014 issue of Crochet Today and found this beautiful Ali Cape. I had never attempted a cape or poncho before so I thought now is the time! Kudos to you poncho and cape designers, knitters and crocheters out there! I now know the time and effort you put into projects like this. I started this project in November and just finished last week. But, to give myself some credit, I put the project aside multiple times to make Christmas, birthday and baby gifts and eventually came back to it. So I didnt completely give up, I’d just rather say, I took my time. ;)

Who: Anyone who wants to knit or crochet an 8″ x 8″ inch square or 8″ x 16″ rectangle is invited to participate.
What: Help us take Manchester by storm and donate a knitted or crocheted square or rectangle swatch to our Yarn Bombing event. All are encouraged to participate in the event whether you are a knitter or crocheter. Not attending the conference? That’s okay too! Get your guild or chapter involved, create swatches, and follow the conference on Instagram to see images of our Yarn Bomb while we are at the show! Manchester will have a whole new appreciation for our industry after we dress the town in all of the colorful swatches! Items left at the end will be pieced together into blankets and scarves and donated to local charities. Continue reading “Yarn Bombing – You’re Invited”

I’m not sure if Winter 2014 will be considered a blast or not. I live in the Southeast and was snowed in for 3 days so I really feel for my friends up North. Let’s be clear about something though, if you are going to go out and play in the snow then you have to look good doing it.
My daughter went off to her first year of college in the mountains of North Carolina. We have beaches too, but she picked the mountains. During Christmas break she asked me if I could make her some hats. She wanted slouchy, cute, hip and just plain fun. I found the perfect pattern, the Winter Blast Hat.
