Have knitting and crocheting been added to the list of new Olympic sports this year you ask? Not officially at the London games, but at Ravelry they are gearing up and medals (AKA blog badges) will be awarded! Continue reading “The Olympics are coming – get your hooks and needles ready!”
May is one of my favorites months. The flowers and trees are in bloom, it’s a great time to work in the garden or enjoy a leisurely walk. We still have cool, misty mornings that are often followed by warm afternoons, followed by breezy evening air. Some of us still need a light wrap or scarf on those cool mornings and evenings. Maybe a loose, flowing vest that works great for office or shopping on the town. Stardust is perfect for stitching in warmer weather and is the May Yarn of the Month Giveaway. We are now into Week 5 of the Knit Along for Kate’s Shawl and some of you may be finished by now. I was planning on having mine completed for Stitches South last week, but I fell short only because I had other things to make. Maybe if I had 2 sets of hands I could get more done. No matter, I’m back working on this shawl and should have it finished by next week. This will make a perfect wrap for the office. Even though it’s getting warmer outside, the air conditioning in the office is a bit nippy at times and it blows right on my shoulders.
It’s Wednesday, and week 6 of the Wednesday Night Stitching Challenge. I’m about half way through the Lace Topper I started on last week, but I’m going to put it aside for tonight. I’ll be working on a special surprise for a very special little girl, CeeCee Creech. Continue reading “Wednesday Night Stitching Challenge Season 3, Week 6”
Prom is right around the corner for many schools around the country, and there are plenty of brides saying “I do” as well. Adding a touch of handcrafted love to either of these events is a great idea, so we’ve pulled a few projects together for you! Continue reading “Proms and weddings need yarn too!”
Babies are so cuddly, soft and sweet. I love babies and really enjoy crochet and knitting for them. Having 2 sons, 6 grand kids (one of them a great- grandson), great nieces, great nephews, all those friends kids, and their kids and their kids … I feel like I have a good bit of experience with babies. My youngest is 9 months old and it’s so enjoyable making cute little hats and sweaters for him. And let’s not forget the blankets and toys. There are so many wonderful gifts you can make to welcome a new baby. Continue reading “April is Baby Month”
It’s Week 5 and we are half way through the Wednesday Night Stitching Challenge. I’m always working on something daily, however, as I have often said, this is the one day out of my very busy week that I choose for myself. It’s usually an evening of working on a knit or crochet project while I’m watching a program on TV or maybe listening to music. I share what I’m working on and ask you to join me and talk about what you are also working on tonight. It can be a project you’ve been working on all week. Continue reading “Wednesday Night Stitching Challenge Season 3, Week 5”
We are into week 3 of the Knit Along for Kate’s Shawl and you should be well on your way to completion. I just love the textured design it creates. It’s a simple pattern repeat to follow; you just need to pay attention because 1 or 2 stitches missed can throw off the entire look. Last week I ended up having to rip out several inches of my work, and that was not pleasant. It’s not the first time nor will it be the last. That’s what happens when you rush and don’t pay attention. I’m back on track and almost finished. I’m hoping to wear it next week while attending Stitches South.
This could be the year that you really show Mom how much you appreciate and love her with a gift that you have knit or crocheted uniquely for her. Sometimes the people we love the most are the people that we forget to show how deeply we care about them. Continue reading “Give Mom a Gift from Your Heart & Hands”
Happy Wednesday everyone! Are you as excited about today as I am? Like so many of you, I’m a working wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Take your pick … I’m all of them! Life can be very hectic some days and I can’t tell you how nice it is to have this one day a week to spend with others who have the same interest. I’m constantly working on something. It could be work related, maybe a gift for a family member or friend … whatever it may be, and there are always several projects underway at one time.
