Wednesday Night Stitching Challenge Season 3, Week 8

It’s my favorite day of the week …. WEDNESDAY! It’s a raining again today, but that’s not a bad thing. We need the rain and it’s a perfect day to curl up in a comfy chair and crochet. This is a perfect time for me to work on gift items for this year.  Last week I was making Blossom Headbands, and this week I’m going to be working on the Casual Beret. I made 6 headbands last week as gifts and thought the hats would make a perfect combo. The flowers are really cute on the hats also. I should be able to finish up at least 2 hats tonight. I’ll post pictures later on the color combinations. Continue reading “Wednesday Night Stitching Challenge Season 3, Week 8”

Wednesday Night Stitching Challenge Season 3, Week 7

Can you believe this is week 7 of the WNSC?  I have really enjoyed this time each week when I can let everything else go and concentrate on something I want to do; crochet or knitting.  I’ve also been able to complete several items I had started and never finished and also added some new things.  Last week, I worked on the Best in Hoodie Vest, finished it in 4 evenings and sent it off to Cee Cee.  She received it today and was very pleased.  Here are a few pics with her new vest!  Continue reading “Wednesday Night Stitching Challenge Season 3, Week 7”

Yarn of the Month Giveaway for May

May is one of my favorites months. The flowers and trees are in bloom, it’s a great time to work in the garden or enjoy a leisurely walk. We still have cool, misty mornings that are often followed by warm afternoons, followed by breezy evening air.  Some of us still need  a light wrap or scarf on those cool mornings and evenings. Maybe a loose, flowing vest that works great for office or shopping on the town.  Stardust is perfect for stitching in warmer weather and  is the May Yarn of the Month Giveaway. Spring 2012 Knit Along, Kate’s Shawl

We are now into Week 5 of the Knit Along for Kate’s Shawl and some of you may be finished by now.  I was planning on having mine completed for Stitches South last week, but I fell short only because I had other things to make.  Maybe if I had 2 sets of hands I could get more done.  No matter, I’m back working on this shawl and should have it finished by next week.  This will make a perfect wrap for the office.  Even though it’s getting warmer outside, the air conditioning in the office is a bit nippy at times and it blows right on my shoulders.

April is Baby Month

Babies are so cuddly, soft and sweet. I love babies and really enjoy crochet and knitting for them.  Having 2 sons, 6 grand kids (one of them a great- grandson), great nieces, great nephews, all those friends kids, and their kids and their kids … I feel like I have a good bit of experience with babies. My youngest is 9 months old and it’s so enjoyable making cute little hats and sweaters for him. And let’s not forget the blankets and toys. There are so many wonderful gifts you can make to welcome a new baby. Continue reading “April is Baby Month”

Wednesday Night Stitching Challenge Season 3, Week 5

It’s Week 5 and we are half way through the Wednesday Night Stitching Challenge.  I’m always working on something daily, however, as I have often said, this is the one day out of my very busy week that I choose for myself.  It’s usually an evening of working on a knit or crochet project while I’m watching a program on TV or maybe listening to music.  I share what I’m working on and ask you to join me and talk about what you are also working on tonight.  It can be a project you’ve been working on all week. Spring 2012 Knit Along, Kate’s Shawl-Week3

We are into week 3 of the Knit Along for Kate’s Shawl and you should be well on your way to completion.  I just love the textured design it creates. It’s a simple pattern repeat to follow; you just need to pay attention because 1 or 2 stitches missed can throw off the entire look. Last week I ended up having to rip out several inches of my work, and that was not pleasant.  It’s not the first time nor will it be the last. That’s what happens when you rush and don’t pay attention. I’m back on track and almost finished. I’m hoping to wear it next week while attending Stitches South.
