Strata is a jersey knit tube featuring fine fibers knitted into a tube around a soft core. Similar to a traditional T-shirt yarn but the tube structure means the yarn won’t fray along the edges, giving it great stitch definition. Extremely soft with just a little stretch and easy to use colors, it’s perfect for accessories, apparel and home décor.

I’m so excited to be partnering with four talented blogger friends and Red Heart Yarn to sponsor this year’s CAL!
Those of you who participated in last year’s event know it was lots of fun. You learned some new techniques, tried some new yarns, there were fabulous prizes courtesy of Red Heart Yarn and best of all you made some new friends. This year should be even better, so come on and join us for the fun!! If you want to see last year’s projects, you can find them here.
Welcome to My First with Marly Bird! Each month Marly will teach you a new crocheting or knitting project. These projects are designed to make you comfortable as you transition between learning the stitches and making a project. Every design has a written pattern and a step-by-step video tutorial to follow along.
Red Heart is now 80 years old! In celebration, we’re giving away prizes every single day for 80 days!
Welcome to the September Doily of the Month! Each month in 2016 we will share a new doily pattern for you to make in Aunt Lydia’s Crochet Thread. We challenged the top doily designers to create innovate designs that coordinate with the feeling of each month. Plus, every month we will select five winners to receive an Aunt Lydia’s prize pack.
For September, we have the Japanese Dahlia Doily. It’s crocheted in Aunt Lydia’s Fashion 3, so it’s quicker to make than you might expect. It works well as a decoration on a table, or framed and hung on the wall. Continue reading “September Doily of the Month”

Last fall and winter we fell in love with cowls and the new stylish way they kept our necks warm and added a spark of color and texture to our outfits. This year continues with a deeper love affair we are having with the crochet Herringbone stitch pattern by Katy Petersen.
You may have noticed that we’ve added patterns on redheart.com for knitting looms. We’ve partnered with KB Looms to fill a void on our site for those wanting to use our yarns for loom knitting. Continue reading “Because you asked for it…Loom Knits”
It’s hard to believe, but it is that time of year again. Time to send those precious little ones back to school. Along with that comes shopping for new school clothes and supplies. I always liked to crochet a few items so that my children would have something unique and very stylish at the same time. I have chosen a dozen designs to get you started. Most are accessories so you have plenty of time to get done before school starts. I have also added some great projects for sports fans.
