Baseball, the great sport that is as American as apple pie, is starting its season! With the start of the season comes the start of Stitch and Pitch events.
Stitch and Pitch? What’s that?
Stitch and Pitch are events combining baseball and needlearts! Organized by The National NeedleArts Association, groups all over the country get together to stitch at baseball games. The events are open to anyone, whether they knit, crochet, needlepoint, cross-stitch, embroider, spin, or weave.
How do I get involved?
You can see a schedule of games at the Stitch N Pitch website, or get your own group together! The website has a detailed guide for organizing a Stitch and Pitch group , including how to promote it, information on working with the team, and suggestions for media involvement.
If you don’t have a major or minor team in your area, you can still participate in spirit by stitching with your friends at local games!
What should I make?
For game day, you will want a portable pattern (you probably want to leave that one-piece afghan at home) that doesn’t require lots of concentration, so you can enjoy the baseball game.
Here are some great baseball-inspired patterns for you to make for your Stitch and Pitch events.
