When I opened the new Winter 2010 issue of Knitter’s Magazine, the first thing I did was to stroll through the pattern pages. I’ve been a big fan of designer, Heather Lodinsky for such a long time and was thrilled to see her cardigan made from Stitch Nation by Debbie Stoller’s Alpaca Love.
I love the unusual shaping of Heather’s cardigan. The body is basically an open circle. I know that this is going to be a fun project to knit and will keep me engaged the whole way through. Actually the pattern is written so that the flat upper back are knit first and then the sleeves. This gets you into the groove before you begin the circular piece.
This dramatic cardigan is so different than any sweater cardigan I’ve ever seen in a store. I know it will be a unique piece and will be a classic I can wear for years. Now all I need to do is pick a color. My first choices are Orchid, Lake or Fern. Decisions! Decisions!
