The Craftys are awards that “celebrate the best in DIY and craft”, including knitting and crochet. Anyone can nominate any project — it’s not limited to people who have a blog, or professional designers, or any other group. Red Heart is proud to sponsor the knitting and crochet categories. The Best in Show winner will receive $1000, and category winners will receive $200. Plus, the crochet and knitting category winners will receive a Red Heart Yarns prize pack. Keep reading to find out more, including how to enter!
The Craftys are open for nominations through January 9, 2017. The categories include all sorts of crafts — knitting and crochet, paper crafting, quilting, home decor/DIY, and more. There’s also a category for Best Young Crafter, for a crafter who is under 18.
All of the entries are open for the public to vote on them. The final entries will be judged by judges who are well-known in their fields, including Marly Bird, our national spokesperson.
The awards will be live-streamed on in February 2017 from New York City so you can watch and see who wins!
Here are some of the great projects submitted so far!
Road to Rhinebeck Sweater (Knitting category)
Don’t let Dewey’s sly look fool you, he is a fashionista and LOVES when his Momma Erin make him a new outfit. It is knit seamlessly with afterthought sleeves and the pattern is my own creation born from lots of trial and error for the perfect fit. This will surely be a favorite in Dewey’s winter wardrobe.
Butterflies & Ladybugs (Baby Crafts category)
This original design blanket is for a great-niece born this year.
Approximated 45′ X 45″, it’s large enough to take her into her toddler years. Made of durable acrylic, it’s easy to care for and won’t lose vibrancy after 100’s of washes. Only 2 stitches, Half-Double crochet and 5-stitch Popcorn.
Be Still My Heart Blanket (Crochet category)
My “Be Still My Heart” blanket is made of 110 squares. Each individually crocheted, with love, then attached to create this heart design. Oh, the hundreds of ends I had to weave in!! 🙂 This is my first blanket and an original pattern. I used Red Heart With Love Yarn – colors Grey and Bubble Gum. Thank you.
