This month we’re heading up to the In the MKNG show and hope you are too!

noun ar·ti·san \ˈär-tə-zən\: a person who makes things by using skill with the hands.
This is a pure definition for the recent “I Am An Artisan Challenge” hosted by our sister company, FreeSpirit Fabrics. As a “yarnie,” you know the name Kaffe Fassett from his multi-color knitwear designs and beautiful yarns bearing his brand. Kaffe’s love of textiles also graces colorful 100% cotton fabrics perfect for patchwork or any sewing project.
The Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival and Pittsburgh Creative Arts Festival for 2017 is coming up! It’s in the David L. Lawrence Convention Center on March 24-26, 2017. If you knit, crochet, quilt, sew, or otherwise craft, this show is for you.
Our spokesperson Marly Bird will be at the Pittsburgh Knit & Crochet Festival! She’s teaching several classes for both knitters and crocheters — register now so you won’t miss her! Plus, in each class you’ll receive a special gift from Red Heart.
I’ve recently become aware of the artist, Gina Rose Gallina, and her colorful way of expressing herself with crochet using Red Heart yarn. I’m just starting to follow this creative force, but wanted to introduce her fun, fantastic yarn pursuits to you. If you are going to be at Vogue Knitting Live, be sure to see and enjoy Gina’s Queen Bee work there. And if you are near Eureka Springs, Arkansas you can see Gina’s work at the Green Gourd on 12 Center Street.
I still need to pack and get myself there, but I wanted to remind everyone that the Knit & Crochet Show is happening this week! Classes begin Wednesday through Saturday. And the shopping market is open Friday and Saturday.
The Design Competition grows each year as crocheters inspire the creativity in each other. It is an exciting part of the annual Knit & Crochet Show conference that is being held in Charleston, SC, July 13-16, 2016. Since I love the competition, I am writing to encourage you to enter the contest and share your original designs. . Your design will be displayed on the show floor and you may even win a nice monetary prize. :-)
If you are a crocheter or knitter that loves enjoying your craft alone, and gets all the inspiration you need from the many websites and Ravelry, then you do not need to read any further. But if you would like to be opened up to the larger world of wonderful people (in the flesh) that knit and crochet, I whole-heartedly encourage you to join a group.
