“Cordial” Coasters for Friendly Get-Togethers

Cordial is a braided cord-like bulky weight yarn that’s great for macrame but you can also use it to knit and crochet. Its sturdy durability makes it great to use in crochet patterns for the home. Here we’ll share four crochet coaster patterns that use Cordial in Neon and Natural Colors. The coasters are thick, so they’ll stay flat on tables even in a breeze, and they are absorbent so they’re great for your cold drinks – perfect for all of your spring and summer parties!

The edging instructions are the same for all of the coasters as follows.

  • When you come to a corner: sc, ch 1, sc. At the last corner: sc, ch 1, slip st to first ch 1 to close round.
  • Fasten off and weave in all ends.

Mix and Match

You can make one of each of these coaster patterns for a full set of four unique coasters. Alternatively you can mix and match any combination of the patterns to create the set that you desire. For example, you might make two each of coasters 1 and 2 and then one each of coasters 3 and 4 for a total of 6 crochet coasters in your set. You might make two of the coasters with Neon as Color A and then the other two with Natural as Color A. The combinations are almost endless. Have fun with it!
