Cro-Shayley Makes a Bloomin' Headband and Dress-Up Booties

Do you know a sweet little girl that a flower headband would just look adorable on? What about a pair of dress-up booties? Ohhh do I have the perfect patterns for you! Using Red Heart Soft Baby Steps, I made this set for my new friend, Macie, who was born recently to some dear friends of mine!

Bloomin' Baby Headband

To begin this baby set, I followed Red Heart's Bloomin' Baby Headband pattern starting with the headband.

HEADBAND
With 5mm [H-8 US] hook and Soft Baby Steps White, ch 9 tightly.
Row 1:
Slip st in 6th ch from hook, ch 3, skip next 2 ch, slip st in last ch; turn ”2 ch-3 spaces.
Row 2:
Ch 3, slip st in first ch-space, ch 3, slip st in next ch-space; turn.
Repeat Row 2 until headband measures 10 (13, 16) [25.5 (33, 40.5) cm] long. Fasten off, leaving long tail for sewing.

Headband

Sew short ends of headband together.

Then onto making the flower.
FLOWER
With 5mm [H-8 US] hook and Soft Baby Steps Lavender, ch 2.
Round 1 (wrong side): Work 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook; join with slip st in first sc, turn.
Round 2 (right side): Ch 1, 2 sc in each sc; join with slip st in first sc ”12 sc. Do not turn.
Round 3: Working in front loops only, (slip st, 2 hdc, dc, tr, ch 1, tr, dc, 2 hdc, slip st) in first sc, slip st in next sc, *(slip st, 2 hdc, dc, tr, ch 1, tr, dc, 2 hdc, slip st) in next sc, slip st in next sc; repeat from * around ”6 small petals. Do not join in first st. Fasten off.

Round 4:
With right side facing and 6mm [J-10 US] hook, join Soft Baby Steps Baby Pink with slip st in back loop of any st, ch 2, working in back loops only, *slip st in next st, ch 2; repeat from * to beginning ch; join with slip st in first st ”12 ch-2 spaces.
Round 5:
(Hdc, dc, tr, ch 2, tr, dc, hdc) in each ch-2 space (large petal made); join with slip st in first st ”12 large petals. Fasten off.flower
CENTERPIECE
With 5mm [H-8 US] hook and Soft Baby Steps White, make a small adjustable ring.
Round 1: Ch 2, *[yo, insert hook in ring, pull up a loop, yo, draw through 2 loops] 4 times (5 loops on hook); yo, draw through all 5 loops; repeat from * twice. Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing. Gently pull beginning tail to close ring tightly. Weave end tail through tops of loops and pull gently to form a ball.

FINISHING
Thread tails of centerpiece through Round 1 of flower and then through headband so flower covers seam. Secure flower in place. Weave in ends

I used Red Heart's Dress-Up Booties pattern to make these precious booties.
Sole
With 5 mm [US H-8] hook and Soft Baby Steps White, ch 9.
Round 1:
Sc in 2nd ch from hook, 2 sc in next ch, sc in next ch, hdc in next 2 ch, dc in next 2 ch, 7 dc in last ch; working on opposite side of beginning ch, dc in next 2 ch, hdc in next 2 ch, sc in next ch, 2 sc in next ch; join with a slip st to first sc " 22 sts.
Round 2:
Ch 3, [2 dc in next sc] 3 times, dc in next 4 sts, [2 dc in next dc] 3 times, 3 dc in next dc, [2 dc in next dc] 3 times, dc in next 4 sts, [2 dc in next sc] 3 times; join to top of ch-3. Mark ch-3 as center back st. Fasten off.

Upper
Ch 24; join to first ch taking care not to twist ch.
Round 1:
Ch 1, sc in first 10 ch, [2 sc in next ch] twice, sc in next ch, [2 sc in next ch] twice, sc in last 9 ch; join with a slip st to first sc " 28 sc.
Round 2:
Ch 1, sc in first sc, 2 sc in next sc, sc in next 8 sc, [2 sc in next sc, sc in next sc] twice, 3 sc in next sc, [sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc] twice, sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in last sc; join " 36 sc.
Rounds 3-5:
Ch 1, sc in each sc around; join.

NOTE: Next sc is the center back st of upper.
Round 6:
With wrong sides of upper and sole together and matching each st, ch 1, slip st in each st around; join.
Fasten off.

Strap-Right Shoe
Ch 13, with wrong side facing, sc in 5 sc BEFORE center back st, sc in center back st and next 5 sc; turn.
Next Row:
Ch 1, sc in next 11 sc, sc in each ch to end. " 24 sc. Fasten off.

Strap-Left Shoe

With wrong side facing, attach yarn in 5th sc BEFORE center back st; ch 1, sc in same sc as joining and next 10 sc, ch 14; turn.
Next Row:
Sc in 2nd ch from hook and next 12 ch, sc in each sc across " 24 sc. Fasten off.

Sew a snap set to each strap and ankle, weave in your ends and there you have it... super adorable Bloomin' Baby Headband and Dress-Up Booties.
