Are you in need of a cover for your laptop, tablet or a similar sized electronic device? I use my laptop quite often, taking it from room to room in my house, using it in the kitchen while cooking, in the living room while crocheting and in my bedroom catching up on emails, paying bills and browsing the web. I decided, since I take full advantage of it’s “wireless” mobility then I should probably make a cover for it (for its safety from my almost-walking 1 year old). ;)
RedHeart.com has several tablet and laptop “cover” free patterns. See them below.

I decided to use #2 iPad Cozy pattern and modify it to fit my laptop. My laptop measures 13.5″ x 9″ but the iPad Cozy pattern measures 10½” x 7″ so I knew I would need to make my foundation chain a little longer.
Here is the modified pattern I used:
Round 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 41 chs, 3 sc in last ch, turn, working across opposite side of foundation ch, sc in next 41 chs, 2 sc in last ch.
The iPad Cozy pattern is worked in a continuous spiral and the pattern says to sc in each st around but I decided to dc in each sc around instead. Use a stitch marker to keep track of the beginning of each round.
Round 2: Dc in each sc around.
Rounds 3-desired length (I crocheted 27 rounds to fit my laptop): Dc in each dc around. Do not fasten off.
Now onto the ribbing. The ribbing is worked in rows and joined to top of cozy as work progresses.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in next 7 sc, slip st in next 2 sc of Round 34, turn – 8 sc.
Row 2: Sc in back loop of next 8 sc, ch 1, turn.
Row 3: Sc in back loop of next 8 sc, slip st in next 2 sc of Round 27, turn.
Repeat Rows 2-3 around top of cozy.
Joining Row: Working in both back loops of last row and free loops of row 1, sc in each st across, slip st in top of Row 1. Fasten off.
And there you have it…a Laptop Cozy. :)
