If you’re planning a party to watch the “big game”, having a birthday party for a sports loving kid or looking ahead to home coming events, have you thought of using your crochet and knit skills for colorful decorations? In my photo, I used an earflap hat on a football as a centerpiece and another hat as a bowl cozy. Who said hats are only for heads?! Scarfs can also be used to add cheery team colors—try a scarf wrapped around a bowl or draped as a party time bunting. Dress cans and bottles in cozies for a sporty look. You may even want to make cozies for everyone to take home as a memento of the event.
For the photo above, I collected a few of the things you can find in our free patterns section of RedHeart.com These ideas may get you started, but I’m sure you can come up with other ideas …like pompom flowers in a vase or making a scarf a bit wider to use as a table runner. And, you will probably want to make all of your items in the same color—your team’s colors. If you can’t find enough of your color at your craft store or yarn department, you can order from ShopRedHeart.com where Team Spirit is on sale!
