The great thing about knitting or crocheting a collar is that you can have a completely new look, but only have to make the collar! I’m sure you’ve noticed all the little collars popping up on fashion runways and fashion magazines. But have you noticed that we have collar patterns that make it easy to create your collar in the color that is best for you. Nice thing about collars is that they are detachable. Of course, you can stitch them on, but it’s nice to think of them as an alternative to the usual necklace. We’ve used cotton Aunt Lydia’s threads, so they are certainly wearable any season of the year. Put together a fresh look using tops or t-shirts already in your closet. And share them on our Aunt Lydia’s Facebook page.
Now that spring is almost here it’s time to get excited about freshening up the house and trying some new projects. Continue reading “A Dozen Home Decor Projects Made with Red Heart Yarn!”

If you’re planning a party to watch the “big game”, having a birthday party for a sports loving kid or looking ahead to home coming events, have you thought of using your crochet and knit skills for colorful decorations? In my photo, I used an earflap hat on a football as a centerpiece and another hat as a bowl cozy. Who said hats are only for heads?! Scarfs can also be used to add cheery team colors—try a scarf wrapped around a bowl or draped as a party time bunting. Dress cans and bottles in cozies for a sporty look. You may even want to make cozies for everyone to take home as a memento of the event. Continue reading “Decorate for Your “Big Game” Party with Team Spirit”
Wow, I haven’t even put my Christmas decorations away and I’m already seeing Valentine goodies in the stores. Of course I’m still on a sugar high from all the Christmas cookies and am trying not to look at the Valentine candy (same old New Year’s resolution—to eat healthy). So I’m thinking that this year I will make an effort to make Valentine’s Day a holiday of hearts, not a holiday of candy. Here are my Red Heart ideas for February 14 gifting.
My job on the Red Heart staff is all about getting hundreds of designs produced each year that we share with you on our website. Sometimes I am amazed at how many designs we actually get through our system. In 2012 we had over 400 designs added to the site (bringing our total to over 1,800).
