I Love Yarn Day 2016 – Stitch It Forward

This I Love Yarn Day, Stitch It Forward and teach someone else to crochet or knit!

I Love Yarn Day is an annual event to celebrate yarn. In 2016, it will be held on Saturday, October 15th. In celebration of the 6th anniversary of the event, the Craft Yarn Council (CYC) is encouraging everyone to teach a friend, neighbor, or family member how to crochet, knit, weave, or otherwise have fun with yarn. Plus, there’s a scavenger hunt you can join to enter for a chance to win prizes!

Most people remember their first stitching lesson and who taught them how to turn skeins or balls of yarn into great scarves, hats, sweaters, afghans, and more. Pass along your love of stitching to someone you love! Use the hashtags #iloveyarnday and #stitchitforward to share what you’re doing, and follow our social media to join in!

You don’t have to be a trained teacher to show someone how to crochet or knit. Just find a quiet spot, and bring along some smooth yarn (Super Saver works well) and a hook or set of needles.

Share your stories and join in the fun on social media with #stitchitforward and #ilyd2015. Plus, follow Red Heart (@redheartyarns on Instagram and Twitter) and I Love Yarn Day (@iloveyarnday_ on Instagram and @ILoveYarnDay on Twitter).

Really love red heart yarn. It’s easy to to work with and has great durability. I have used mainly super saver and the comfort yarn which is great for afghans! I am about to use the reflective yarn to crochet a hat for my grandson. Can’t wait.

I am a labor and delivery nurse, I work for st. Mary’s hospital in st Louis Missouri. I recently found a post about red hats for newborns for the month of February.
Several of my friends expressed an interest in doing the same thing for our hospital.
we deliver about 300 babies a month.
We are high risk, so we deliver sick moms/ babies, babies that have died before birth.
    And normal mom’s and babies.
We also do fetal surgeries, where the baby is operated on inside the mom, and our goal is to keep them pregnant until their due date..
I was wondering if you might donate some red yarn so we can make hats for our babies.
If you need to verify my employment use my email mail and I can give you my contact ingo.
Thank you in advance for your consideration.
    Angie
