Join Mikey’s Pact: Summer Stitch-cation

From Guest Blogger, Mikey from the Crochet Crowd:

I’m at it again with another amazing afghan project. I’ve been digging through the Red Heart patterns to locate a perfect project for the summer long crochet challenge. In reviewing his inbox of ‘wish list requests’ from fans, he realized that people really want to explore stitches so they may learn and grow.

I’ve located an afghan that explores 10 different stitches. These are stitches that you can learn and use on future projects. I will have the patterns and videos ready for you.

The Pact
Join me in completing a gorgeous afghan starting July 1st and finish it by Labour Day. I will present the entire project on Canada Day, July 1st, 2014. Crocheters will have an entire summer to work through their project. You are challenged to explore the colour wheel to come up with an interesting colour scheme that matches your own personal creativity and decor tastes. You will see the entire project up front to begin the planning.

The afghan has a potential to look thousands of different ways for where the stitches appear and what colours are used.

On September 6th, 2014, Mikey will do a draw for three lucky crocheters. Each crocheter will win a fully loaded Red Heart Yarn Bag with Crochet Crowd Gifts! The draw is completely random.

Whether you are going on vacation or having a stay-cation at home… why not enjoy a Stitch-cation at the same time. If your friends ask you what you are doing this summer, just tell them you are going on Stitch-cation with Mikey.

Need help…I’ve started blocking the completed squares as some were larger or narrower than others. I’ve never done this before, but am using a bulletin board, towel, and then crochet square. I then anchor it with solid brass pins & wet down with spray bottle of water & letting dry. Now the ones that needed to be stretched a little wider are responding great, but I have some that are 1″ to 1.5″ to tall or wide. I’m using red heart super saver for square and red heart love for border. Any options other than doing the square again?
