Maybe my favorite media form is magazines. I love going to the bookstore to see new yarn related magazines. I always save the projects that I plan to make. Here are a few current magazine designs now that are really worth letting you know about.
Clarence the Monkey: Isn’t this monkey the sweetest thing? I think I’ll make him in lavender and lilac Red Heart Soft Yarn and give an Easter Monkey to my great-niece instead of a bunny. Brenda Anderson designs such cute critters! You can find him in the Spring Issue of Interweave Crochet on the newsstands now. Photo on right by Joe Coca.
Striped Afghan: This afghan is certainly one that will feel scrumptious wrapped around me and force me to relax after a day at the computer! The undulating waves in soft bamboo and wool yarn is Stitch Nation by Debbie Stoller Bamboo Ewe. Designed by
Jeannie Chin, you’ll find this design in the Spring/Summer issue of Knit Simple. Knit Simple Spring/Summer 2011. Photo on right by Paul Amato.
Wedding Shawl: I have two nieces that are planning weddings….do I dare ask them if they need a shawl to wear? I’m afraid they will also want them for the bridesmaids. This beautiful but simple pattern by Elena Malo is crocheted in Red Heart Heart & Sole sock yarn. You can find it on the cover of Crochet Today! magazine’s May/June issue.
Plant Cozies: This is a great gifting idea. Cozies for inexpensive pots certainly would make a more personal presentation than the crinkly paper from the garden center. Or maybe I should do a few small ones and start an herb garden on my kitchen windowsill. I like the idea of putting the wet felted cozy on the pot and letting it dry on the pot. Very cool! Look for this easy project in the April/May issue of Knitting Today and make it in Stitch Nation by Debbie Stoller Full o’ Sheep.
