Retro Throw 3 Colorful Ways

This popular throw just begged to be featured in “3 Colorful Ways” because it is so outstanding for today’s modern interiors. We love the way it can be crocheted in any unique family of colors that is suited to your surroundings and still look just as wonderful.

  • Designer Jessie Rayot designed the amazing original Retro Ornament Throw in bright sixties holiday colors and we remade it in Fall colors and more Tranquil colors.
  • There are 8 motif yarn colors and one color for the joining. You start by making 84 motifs in 16 different color combinations. That sounds like a lot of motifs, but they are joined as you go so you don’t have to sew them all together.
  • The marquise-shaped motifs are curved to fit together in vertical rows that end with tassels at each point.

We’d love to know which of our versions you’d most like to crochet and make for your own home. Go below the photos to the voting app and click on your choice.

If you crochet your Retro Throw in other colors, please share it with us on our Facebook page. Your choice may be an inspiration to someone else!

Dear Eleanor, Thank you for your question. There are two versions of our 3 Colorful Ways that you may be thinking of: the August one, with Ruanas, and the May one, with Lacy Shawls. If you go to our 3 Colorful Ways page ( you can see both of them. Click on the photo of the projects you want, and you’ll be taken to the blog that has links to all 3 patterns. Each shawl is a different pattern.
