April is Stress Awareness Month! As a part of this, the Craft Yarn Council (CYC) is sponsoring the month-long event called #StitchAwayStress. Crocheting and knitting are great ways to relieve stress, among other health benefits. Each week there will be a challenge on CYC’s social media for a chance to win one of four $50 prize packs at the end of the month!
Challenge and Giveaway
Each week in April the Craft Yarn Council has a different theme.
- Week One: SELF
- Week Two: THE MIND
- Week Three: COMMUNITY
- Week Four: INSPIRATION
Share any of CYC’s Stress Awareness Month posts or images on Facebook and Instagram and tell your story to your friends as it relates to the topic of that post. You must use the #stitchawaystress for a chance to win one of four UNWIND prizes. Each prize is valued at $50. Contest runs April 1-30. Winners will be chosen at random and will be announced week of May 8th.
Lemon Drop Campaign
To share the stress-reducing benefits of crocheting and knitting, the CYC has free lemon stress ball patterns in both crochet and knitting. You can download the free patterns and use Super Saver in 324 Bright Yellow and 672 Spring Green to make the stress balls. They’re the size of real lemons, so they don’t take long to make.
After you stitch the lemon stress ball, attach a note to it with words of encouragement or what knitting or crocheting means to you. Then leave the lemon stress ball for someone to find who needs a pick-me-up. Share your kindness with others! If you post a photo to social media, use the hashtags #stitchawaystress and #redheartyarns.
