Update on Elephants Remember Joplin

A few months back, we told you about an amazing little girl who wanted to help the people of Joplin, Missouri after the tornado. She has been busy making and auctioning off her elephants. Let's fast forward to see what she's up to today.

Updating you on all of Cee Cee's recent doings. She is collecting toys for Kosair Children's hospital for Christmas this year...so far she's had toys come in from New Zealand and from Texas and we know lots of other folks that are going to donate, so that's exciting! After Hurricane Sandy happened, she was so inspired by all the yarn stores and designers that were helping with hurricane relief she decided to send toys to two mayors, and we have been hearing a lot about it in the news, from both the Mayor of New York City and the Mayor of Newark, New Jersey. Last Wednesday Belinda, her mom, had a call from Mayor Cory Booker (Newark, New Jersey) thanking Cee Cee for "being a light in darkness" and helping others. There was also a teeny elephant auction and $88 was donated to the Red Cross. There will be more elephants going to help tornado victims before we are done. Cee Cee is looking forward to the next Knitters Magazine, and is also enjoying a weekly knitting lesson with a friend who is learning to knit.
