Are you a coffee lover in need of a mug koozie to bring a smile to your mornings? Well Red Heart has the cutest Owl Mug Wrap pattern you’ll have to make for that morning Cup of Joe. Two of my college friends asked me to make them one and how could I say no? It’s so super cute, quick and easy, and a perfect project to get rid of any scrap yarn you have laying around. You can use any colors too! I might keep this one in my back pocket for some Christmas gifts.
Of course, I made a few adjustments to the pattern to make it my own but not many so here goes…
I have yet another friend who is pregnant and is due in April, however, this friend is having a little boy. She is going with a “rustic” themed nursery so I decided to make her a cowboy hat and boots so maybe she could use these for some newborn photos. If you’ve never used Red Heart Buttercup for a baby project, you should definitely give it a try. Holy cow this yarn is so “super soft and snuggly” I want to touch it all the time! No wonder babies love it so much! Continue reading “Cro-Shayley makes a Kitty Cat Headband”
Top ‘o the mornin’ to ya!
St. Patrick’s Day is right around the corner and my little boy wants to be prepared! As I was reading through Donna’s Dozen: Lucky You creative ideas for St. Patrick’s Day blog, I came across the St. Patrick’s Day Chapeau pattern and questioned how could I make this for a 4 month old baby. I skimmed through the pattern and realized it uses 2 strands of Super Saver yarn for the hat. I was feeling LUCKY ;) so I tried the pattern with only 1 strand of Super Saver yarn and wadduya know…it fits my little leprechaun! In one of my previous Cro-Shayley blogs, I mentioned I was on a Red Heart Reflective Yarn kick. Well here’s another awesome quick and easy craft project using this yarn…a Reflective Celebration Hat. Continue reading “Cro-Shayley makes a Reflective Celebration Hat”
A friend of mine is having a little girl in March and her nursery theme is owls. I found Red Heart’s Cutie Blue Bird Hat pattern and thought what a perfect gift it would be! Maybe they can use this for some “cutie” newborn pictures.
I used Super Saver Orchid for the hat, Baby Pink for the feathers, Bright Yellow for the nose and White and Delft Blue for the eyes.
See the pictures below of my progress. If you’re making a baby hat with earflaps for the first time, this pattern is a good one to use. It’s quick with easy steps….my kind of project! ;)
Are you signed up to receive project emails from Pinterest? I sure am and as I was going through my emails a few days ago, I came across one with the subject line, “Cross stitch your grandma would never do.” Continue reading “Cro-Shayley makes a Cross Stitch Heart Sweater just in time for Valentine’s Day”
I’m on a Red Heart Reflective Yarn kick…..I don’t know about you, but I just can’t get enough of it! Last year I made headbands for my nieces, nephew and cousins when we went on our family mountain trip (click here to read that blog) and I’m thinking about making more. The way the reflective thread woven into the yarn lights up during a flash photo just amazes me…I’m easily amused, I know. ;) Continue reading “Cro-Shayley makes a Reflective Crate”
